CHILDREN attending St. Joseph Malamala Primary School on big Tabar Island in the Namatanai district will now have access to a newly built double classroom after years of neglect.

This follows the recent opening of a double classroom by Member for Namatanai Byron Chan and Governor Sir Julius Chan in a bid to foster and improve quality of learning and education in the district and province as a whole.

Mr Chan who is keen on improving schools in his electorate said in a recently concluded first ever combined patrol that the idea is to make sure school facilities are maintained to enable conducive learning atmosphere for students.

“Learning in a conducive environment is a prerequisite to success and therefore it complements the provincial government’s policy on free and subsidized education for all students in the province.”

A total of K75,000 from the MP’s District Support Improvement Program (DSIP) funds was used to build the new double classroom.

The Member also provided the school a television set and a 25 KV generator to boost learning through televised schools program on EM TV as well as get in tuned with news and other happenings around the country and the world.

He urged the Board of Management (BOM) of the school and students to take good care of the classroom facilities and assured them that more assistance will come in the future.
